Adoptable Lovebugs!

Every dog that enters Ruffles Rescue’s care will receive a health and behavior evaluation, routine vaccines, a spay or neuter surgery, microchip, dewormer, flea and tick prevention, and any other medical treatments that might be required. They will not only receive medical care, they will receive the love and attention that they deserve. They will know the true meaning of being loved. ♥

Our Adoption Fee:  Our adoption fee is $200.  Ruffles Rescue relies on our adoption fee’s in order to save another life.  Every penny of the adoption fee goes right back into the dogs!  The fee helps us fully vet, feed, provide proper housing and care for another dog.  The adoption fee helps us save one more life!

Adoption Requirements:  All current pets in your home must be spayed/neutered.  Your adoptive dog must be part of the family, and allowed inside your home.  If you are looking for a ‘guard-dog’ or a stickily outside dog, we’re sorry – but Ruffles is not for you.

Adoption Steps:  All applicants must complete a phone interview.  If you are approved, we then will conduct a home inspection and a meet-and-greet if you have other pets!  If everything passes, an adoption contract is signed, and we welcome you to the Ruffles family!

Andy

Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier Mix
Estimated DOB:  January, 2020
Sex:  Neutered, Male
Size: Medium- 40 Pounds

Andy Boy is a sweet little eight month old pitty puppy who was rescued from Monterey County Animal Services. This adorably sweet boy is paralyzed and has very small amount of movement from his rear legs. He was found as a stray and was taken to the shelter, where his probability of adoption is very slim. He required assistance to both urinate and defecate and required around the clock care to have a normal and happy life. Andy does not let his limitations slow him down. He can be found playing with the bigger dogs and flying full speed off the couch! He is lightening on wheels and can out run other dogs on walks! Sweet Andy boy requires a specialized wheel chair to get around and medical wraps – but this boy would never know he was different from any other dog!

Heart

Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier Mix
Estimated DOB:  January, 2016
Sex:  Spayed, Female
Size: Medium- 40 Pounds

Heart is a sweet, petite lady who enjoys long walks to the fridge and the kibble storage bin.  She enjoys short walks around the block and cuddling under the blankets.  She would rather watch Animal Planet than The Real Housewives, but she knows that cuddles next to the Hooman is better than sitting on her bed watching the Hooman cook human food or sitting in the yard watching the Hooman do yard work – so she doesn’t argue.  Heart rides excellently in the car and sits like a human making sure her Hooman Uber driver makes no errors.  She truly enjoys being the center of attention and being the only dog – however, she does live excellently with other dogs.  She has a heart shaped spot on her left side, hence her name, however, we have learned that the heart in her chest and character outlive the name from her spot.  Is Heart the forever love you have been looking for?

Loki

Breed: English Bulldog Mix
Estimated DOB:  May, 2018
Sex:  Neutered, Male
Size: Medium- 40 Pounds

Loki is your modern day house hippo! This small, but mighty little man was adopted from Salinas Animal services and was surrendered to us due to his on-going medical issues. Loki was hit by a car as a puppy and his back legs did not heal right. He waddles around, but surely does not let it stop him!  He can jump on couches and thinks he is a super ninja! He has also had two Penile Prolapse surgeries that fixed a small tare in his urethra.  Loki is a lover of all things – kitties, dogs, and especially people! He has the best smooch face and most adorable snore! Loki, like all bully breeds, is a people pleaser and truly just wants a human of his very own.

Louie

Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier, Mix
Estimated DOB:  January, 2016
Sex:  Neutered, Male
Size: Large – 65 Pounds

Louie Boy is the sweetest, most gentle boy!  Poor Louie has had a rough start in life.  In 2016, Animal Control Officer Lewis at Monterey County Animal services, found a box of Pit Bull puppies in the middle of the road in Salinas. Those puppies were never reclaimed and were adopted out to different families.  In July 2020, Animal Control Officer Brooks was called out to an injured dog sitting out in the fields, in Monterey County. The Officers found a male, gray Pit Bull sitting on the side of the road. He was emaciated and had multiple wounds that were infected. The poor dog was transported to Hitchcock Road Animal Service and was immediately seen by our clinic staff. It was sadly evident this boy felt and looked defeated. Upon exam, it was discovered that the dog had a microchip that traced back to one of those puppies adopted back in 2016.  How could this happen? The case was investigated and Louie is now part of The Ruffles Family. Louie loves his people, doggy friends and even cat friends so hard!  Louie would do best in a home where he is the center of attention.  He does suffer from separation anxiety but with routine and structure, he is doing better and learning to trust!  Is Louie the handsome boy you have been looking for?!

Penny

Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier, Mix
Estimated DOB:  January, 2017
Sex:  Spayed, Female
Size: Large – 50 Pounds

Penny Goblin is the sweetest little land hippo that came to us from Monterey County Animal Services. She was found as a stray and needed a cleft lip repair. From her physical looks, sweet Penny has been bred several times and unfortunately dumped at a very popular rural area in Salinas, CA. Penny has gone through four lip correction surgeries, along with a gland removal surgery. Penny is a lover of long walks to the fridge, snuggles every minute of the day, and a lover of all things Animal Planet! What she lacks in ears, she makes up for in loves and a gentle spirit.

Rita

Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier Mix
Estimated DOB:  January, 2006
Sex:  Spayed, Female
Size: Large – 60 Pounds

Oh, Hello! I’m Rita! I enjoy long strolls to the walnut tree in the back yard and love to hear my housekeeper yell my name. I truly enjoy laying on my friends and licking them religiously until they growl at me. I’ve been told that if Wagging Tail was an Olympic sport, I’d be a gold medalist. My favorite, is Netflix and chill and I enjoy high school comedies, much like Mean Girls and She’s All That. I’ve been told that I’m pretty smart.. like I totally trained the housekeeper that every time I bring her the ball, she should throw it. I know. Genius. Well, the story is, my great ancestors were the owner of a fancy butler named Albert Einstein. But who knows. That’s just the family story. Anyhoo, my housekeeper is accepting applications for a new housekeeper. I’m hotter than a $2 pistol, so ya better get while the gittins good!
