Adoptable Lovebugs!

Every dog that enters Ruffles Rescue’s care will receive a health and behavior evaluation, routine vaccines, a spay or neuter surgery, microchip, dewormer, flea and tick prevention, and any other medical treatments that might be required. They will not only receive medical care, they will receive the love and attention that they deserve. They will know the true meaning of being loved. ♥

Our Adoption Fee:  Our adoption fee is $200.  Ruffles Rescue relies on our adoption fee’s in order to save another life.  Every penny of the adoption fee goes right back into the dogs!  The fee helps us fully vet, feed, provide proper housing and care for another dog.  The adoption fee helps us save one more life!

Adoption Requirements:  All current pets in your home must be spayed/neutered.  Your adoptive dog must be part of the family, and allowed inside your home.  If you are looking for a ‘guard-dog’ or a stickily outside dog, we’re sorry – but Ruffles is not for you.

Adoption Steps:  All applicants must complete a phone interview.  If you are approved, we then will conduct a home inspection and a meet-and-greet if you have other pets!  If everything passes, an adoption contract is signed, and we welcome you to the Ruffles family!

Heart is a sweet, petite lady who enjoys long walks to the fridge and the kibble storage bin.  She enjoys short walks around the block and cuddling under the blankets.  She would rather watch Animal Planet than The Real Housewives, but she knows that cuddles next to the Hooman is better than sitting on her bed watching the Hooman cook human food or sitting in the yard watching the Hooman do yard work – so she doesn’t argue.  Heart rides excellently in the car and sits like a human making sure her Hooman Uber driver makes no errors.  She truly enjoys being the center of attention and being the only dog – however, she does live excellently with other dogs.  She has a heart shaped spot on her left side, hence her name, however, we have learned that the heart in her chest and character outlive the name from her spot.  Is Heart the forever love you have been looking for?

Ohh Lola Fat Girl Pibble’s!  She sure is one stubborn and spoiled girl.  She sure knows how to get her way no matter the costs and yet follow the rules, while she is getting her way.  She wants to be the center of attention and with her person at all times.  She is excellent at ignoring the alarm clock in the morning, yet, she can go for miles and miles on walks, while showing the neighborhood how great her strut is.  She does not like cute little feline friends, but she loves and loves puppies and other dogs that she can show how Lola does things.  She’s definitely a leader and not a follower.  She rides phenomenally in a car, knows what a drive-thru window is and vocally protests if she is not given a goody bag from said drive-thru window.  She can eat her weight in kibble and still have room for extra organic knuckle bones and treats.  Lola came to us as a senior who lost her home due to cancer.  Her person was dying of the horrible decease and the City of Long Beach reached out to us to save this shelter favorite.  Lola is one smart cookie, with a huge heart and smart britches that is sometimes to smart for her own good!  Oh, sweet Lola!  You are perfect and so spry in your elder years.  If Lola is who would make your home complete – apply now!  She’s perfection!

Oh Pearl!  Those are some mighty cute ears you have!  Sweet Pearl is a lovely older gal that we rescued from The Kings SPCA on March 27th, 2015.  Pearl is an Australian Shepherd, that is mixed with some Yoda!  Pearl is a deaf little lady, who loves to spend her days cuddled up on a nice comfortable bed, snoozing away.  While Pearl is dog friendly, she much prefers to watch the dogs wrestle and play from a distance.  She is very low-key; who would love a quiet and relaxing home.  She knows hand signals and obeys fabulously!  She gets these very short and adorable spurts of energy – where she plays with her toys.  Is Pearl the sweet, lovely, low-key lady you are looking for?

Meet Ruby Tuesday! Ruby Tuesday is a 10-year-old, 50-pound Pit Bull senior that we rescued from Salinas Animal Services. This sweetie is a model canine citizen and a total love bug with every person that she meets.  Ruby has great manners, sits patiently for treats and takes them gently from your hand. Her interactions with other dogs have shown that she is can be dog tolerant in on-leash, controlled environments – however, we do recommend that she is an only dog. Her hips are somewhat delicate, however, with the proper food and supplements – she does happy feet and dances like she is just a spry two year old puppy!  Ruby will be an easy addition to a low- to mid-activity home and she can’t wait to meet her new family!
